Mr Wind

I gave my new little friend that name after a song by Lou Rawls:  Dead end street

This beautiful bird flew into the path of a car in front of me on Nimitz Blvd.
it was knocked up and over the car flying out of control
 I was afraid it would land on me as I was riding my motorcycle
but I managed to get out of the path and stopped about 50'
past the point that the bird had landed upside-down

I drove off but just had to go back to see if it might  need help
as I passed it heading to a place to turn back to its location
it was still laying on its back and not moving

about 2 minutes later when I arrived, the bird it was sitting up looking around :-)
I had to think about what to do with something that needed med. attention
Yet could claw me into pieces at will

Well as a photographer my first thought was to take a picture
then I removed everything from the bag I was carrying my camera and sailing stuff in
and dropped it over the bird,
Then I came to the realization that I kinda had a tiger by the tail
I found a semi long stick,and VERY Apprehensively zipped the bag
without having the bird get out or hurt any more than it was
about this time the lady who hit the bird arrived
she was upset thinking about what happened to the bird
and offered to drive the bird to a Wildlife Rescue  clinic

Not  being excited to have a Hawk riding on my lap in a thin bag
I said GREAT Let's Go - Follow me !!!!!
By the time we arrived at a place that was open
the bird was getting restless (a Good sign)

The bird was admitted and I was allowed to take some pictures
and pet the little guys head before leaving

I could not wait to come back to check on my little buddy
and hopefully soon photograph him/her flying off  to live happy ever after

Sadly "Mr Wind" never made it through the night :-(

I try to only share positive things !

Things happen for a reason
and I don't understand why this all took place

If it was a test, I don't know if I passed or failed ?
But I know I tried and feel bad my little friend is gone :-(
